Course Description

This out and back course starts and finishes at Black Birch Vineyard and will be a favorite of runners from all ability levels. There is 498 ft. of climbing with endless scenery that includes rural roads, babbling brooks and rolling farmland. The first 1.7 miles will give you a flat warm-up on your way to the first climb into Whately alongside West Brook. From there you will make your way onto a beautiful dirt road section, the last climb of the day and the turnaround. The second half of the course will be fast, downhill and full of scenery as you make your way back to Black Birch Vineyard and the post race celebration!

All turns will be marked with a sign. We will also have course marshals and police officers on course to guide you. Runners should run on the left side of the road.

The race starts at 9 am. Please arrive early to get parking and to get ready to run!

Wine, Finisher’s Medals and Shirts!

All finishers will receive a free pour courtesy of the Vineyard, to commemorate your experience. New for 2023 all finisher’s will get a custom designed medal and long sleeve tech shirt! Please note that a shirt is not guranteed to runners who registered after 3/9. If you registered after 3/9 please see us after the race and we will give you a shirt from what is still available.

Post-Race Celebration

The post race celebration will be happening at the award-winning Black Birch Vineyard. Finishers will receive a free pour and additional wine will be available for purchase. We will also have several food trucks on site for post race food.

Eric Guyette will be playing live music to celebrate your accomplishment!

Packet Pick-up

Bib pick-up will take place at the Old Mill Inn (87 School St) in Hatfield, MA. You can pick-up your packet on Saturday, March 23th, from 11AM-1PM.

Race day registration and bib pick-up will be from 7:30-8:30AM at the Black Birch Vineyard.

Porta Potties and Aid Stations

We will have aid stations every 2 miles with water and electrolyte beverages. Porta potties will be at the start/finish area. Runners must use these porta potties as we will not have access to the bathroom facilities inside of the Black Birch Vineyard.

Parking

Carpooling is always encouraged. Parking will be available along Straits road, next to the Black Birch Vineyard entrance.

There will be no parking in the Black Birch Vineyard parking lot.
